Many months ago, I began this ambitious project of 100, 10 x 10 in. paintings. As I look back, I think the most ambitious part of it, was thinking I would be finished by now. Working primarily in the late evenings, when my energy wasn’t completely drained from my day job and kidlets, the project has taken a little longer than I originally planned.
That said, however, I am very pleased to have officially hit the halfway mark, with my 50th painting, London Fog.
This painting was an idea I was tossing around in my head for the past week.
First, I wanted to paint a landmark in London that I was fond of when I had visited there years ago, like Tower Bridge. Secondly, I wanted to experiment with the atmosphere in the work, to try and capture a certain feeling and mood. And finally, I simply wanted to title a painting, London Fog.
Now, with painting number 50 finally complete, I look forward to the next half, which I hope I complete in half the time. I always have the intention to paint (and thus post) more often, so perhaps I can now gain a little momentum on my journey to 100 paintings.
To conclude today’s post, I want to take a moment to send out my sincere gratitude to my family, friends and visitors who have been following and sharing in this journey to this point. Thank you for your tremendous support. I hope I can keep it interesting for you and post more frequently for the remainder of the project.
