The Silly Season

Happy Christmas and all the best this holiday season to all the visitors and regular readers who have been following my painting journey so far. Also, cheers to 2012!

Where did December go? There has been a new work sitting on the easel, almost complete, but left untouched for the past week now. Somewhere between the eggnog, cookies, visiting with family, holiday movie nights, gift shopping, gift wrapping, grocery shopping, bathroom cleaning, laundry folding, board gaming, and just general too-tired-to-do-anything-else-except-surf-the-net evenings, I totally fell off the painting wagon (again).

And, let’s be honest, by this point in the silly season, I probably won’t find the time and energy to produce much more until the New Year. However, I am pleased with what I’ve accomplished so far, even if it has taken me a little longer than expected. But I have been finding the time to paint, and have been enjoying it.

So, what will 2012 bring? First, completing the remaining works in my 100 for 100 project and one of my resolutions is to become more disciplined with time management and keep on task. After that, whatever painting ideas come my way! Adventure beckons, I am thinking about larger works that revisit some of the ideas in this current body of work. I am also hoping to get more involved in some art shows, as time permits. It should be an exciting year.

My other big resolution is the get-back-in-shape thing, but let’s not go there just yet with another week of cookies and eggnog.

Until the New Year, keep warm (bundled in goose down or on the beach in Mexico, either works) and see you in the New Year!
