As I mentioned with Green Machine, I find old cars and trucks make interesting subject matter to paint. This Model T is another vehicle I’ve been itching to paint since my friend and neighbour recently purchased it. I’ve had the honour and pleasure to sit in this absolutely immaculate restoration, and the other day when he had it out of the garage for the neighbours to drool over, I took some reference photos to work from.
Originally, I was going to work on it in the near future, as I have a couple of other paintings already on the go, but I couldn’t help it, and jumped right into it tonight.
The colour palette for this work was chosen to emphasize a vintage feel, not that a 1924 Ford Model T can’t do that on it’s own. Since it’s a study however, I didn’t add more colour, texture or patterns, but I think I will revisit it in the future on a larger scale and can experiment more then. For now, this was the warm up, and at this scale, I like it just the way it is.
