Run Away with The Butterfly Circus

I’m not a fan of email forwards, generally speaking, but just last week one arrived in my inbox that got my attention.
It was a link to a short film by husband and wife team Joshua and Rebekah Weigel, called The Butterfly Circus. I liked it so much, I wanted to share it with you (click on the words The Butterfly Circus to view).
In addition to offering a positive message, the short is beautifully filmed, filled with quirky but likable characters and has great, period costumes to boot.
It’s also garnered a nice collection of awards on the festival circuit, bringing home (among other things) the Audience Favourite award from the Heartland Film Festival (2010), the Palm Springs Short Fest (2010) and the Ashland Independent Film Festival (2010). It also won the Clint Eastwood Filmmaker Award at the Carmel Art and Film Festival (2010).
Set during the Great Depression of the 1930s, the 22 minute film follows the small but renowned Butterfly Circus troupe, exploring some of the life-changing effects they have on those they meet.
According to the website, a full-length feature film is in the works. I can’t wait to see it!

Well, I had my cry for the day. I can’t wait until my son gets home from school so I can show him this short film. My son, age 9, has wanted to be a film director since the age of 4, ever since making his first movie! Since then he has made 4 movies total, his last one actually involved a movie premiere where 80 very supportive people showed up!!!! I will certainly have my son contact the people of this film. I hope my son agrees to tell people about this film on his own blog:
