A Banner Word

I’ve been seeing banners popping up everywhere – made from cloth, pewter and other materials.

Many (although not all) have sported inspirational words, such as “HOPE,” “LOVE,” and “JOY.”

It didn’t take me long to become enamoured of these decorative messages – especially hung in a strategic place like across an alcove or on a mantel.

Recently, I decided to try my hand at making my own, using DAS air-hardening modelling clay. I stamped them with a set of distressed letter stamps and then applied a wash of brown acrylic paint to enhance the texture.

I chose the word “BLISS,” because, well, that’s the word my simple, white mantel brings to mind – and it’s a word I want my family to associate with our home.

What word would you choose to be a banner word for your home?
