A Birthday Coffee

Mr. Pear Tree and I celebrated a good cup of coffee and the one-year birthday of giObean Espresso at the downtown coffee shop, yesterday morning.

The milestone celebration included treats, cake, coffee, a speech by the mayor and live music courtesy of Kelowna Secondary School jazz students. And a show of four or five splashy Italian cars, parked curbside in front of the shop.

But to be honest, they had me at “free coffee.”

Mr. Pear Tree and I turned the occasion into a mini date, leaving the kids with their kind aunty, and spending a little bit of time with just the two of us. It’s a rare treat in these parts.

What did you do over the weekend just for fun?
